Ashland Progress
Mrs. Toland, wife of C. B. Toland, died at her home a mile south of Ashland 
Saturday morning after only a few days illness. It is said that she was taken ill 
with the prevalent malady thought to be scarlatina, but later contracted 
pneumonia, which resulted in her death. Mrs. Toland had been residing near 
Ashland only about a year. She formerly resided several miles south of town and 
was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Jones, well known residents of the county. 
She was the mother of a large family of children and she and her husband had 
moved to their present home in order to give their children better school 
advantages. The funeral was held Sunday and her remains were interred at Mt. 
Ararat cemetery near the old family home.
