From reports it seems that Gregg and another white man, Howard Shults, had some words with the negro after which they left him, going to the Gregg home where Gregg obtained the shot gun. They then returned in a car, it is said, to the house where the negro was and halted in front of it. Trimble came out on the porch where he was shot by Gregg. As he fell, he raised a pistol from his side and fired into Gregg's body. Reports are that drink played its customary part in the tragedy. As a sad aftermath of the fatal shooting Additional Comments: He was born ca 1876. He married Laura Emory in 1907 Clay County AL. Death Cert does not state place of burial, also father is listed as unknown, mother is listed as Sarah Zachary.
