H. Tripp, roadmaster of the A. B. & C. was taken suddenly and violently ill at his boarding place in Lineville last Thursday and was carried to the hospital at Roanoke where he died a short time later. He was buried at New Harmony cemetery near Cragford Sunday afternoon, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. L. A. Holmes of this city. Mr. Tripp was well known in Ashland where he made his home for a number of years, during which time he was section foreman on the railroad between Ashland and Pyriton. He moved with his family to LaGrange more than a year ago where he was making his home at the time of his death. A large group of his Ashland friends attended the funeral service, thus manifesting the esteem in which' the deceased was held here. Mr. Tripp was about 55 years of age and leaves a wife and four children. He was a valued employee of the A. B. C. and his associates among the officials showed every kindness and consideration in their power in connection with his fatal illness. A very large assembly of people attended the funeral service.
