Truitt, one of the well-known residents of the southern boundary died Thursday July 28, after a long illness during most of which he was practically helpless due to paralysis. Mr. Truitt was a native of Georgia but came to Alabama while quite young and settled in Lee County where he resided till the Civil war when he enlisted in the cause of the Confederacy and served as a soldier throughout the war. After the war he settled in the southern part of Clay County where he made his home till his death. The deceased was the father of our townsman, W.P. Truitt who, all during his long illness has given much time and attention to caring for his father's needs and wants. Three other sons and two daughters, with their mother, survive him. Funeral services were held at Bethel church Friday, conducted by Rev. Burgess, and interment was in the Bethel cemetery.
