He was mortally wounded on the battlefield and later died in hospital. His skull had been plated and other signs that he was cared for in the attempt to save his life. He had been dead over two years. He was buried at Liberty Cemetery four miles south of Ashland. Additional Comments: Company M, 167th Infantry. Enlisted Jun 12, 1917, Montgomery Alabama.
