Alabama March 21st, 1856, receiving a certificate of honor upon his graduation. He then came to this county (then Talladega County) and, except a term of service in the Confederate army, he practiced his profession here uninterruptedly until failing health would no longer admit of his visiting the sick. He was devoted to profession. On returning home from the war, he found himself penniless, not even a horse to ride. He did not wait to buy a horse, but, throwing his saddlebags across his shoulder, he went about on foot administering to the sufferings of his people, many of whom, like himself, were reduced to poverty by the ravages of the war. As a citizen, he was alive to the best interests of his country, and whenever questions in volving morals, education or Christianity were at public issue, he was always found on the right side................ Additional Comments: He is buried in the Old Ashland Cemetery.
