Ashland Progress
Funeral services for Mrs. Roxie Waits were held at Shiloh Church at 2 o'clock 
p.m. on Nov. 14th, conducted by Rev. A.A. Jacobs. Interment was in adjacent 
cemetery with Blair Funeral Directors in charge. Active pallbearers were John 
Jackson, Pinkney Dison, Pelham Walker, Basil Sparks, James Brown and Dorsey Lee 
Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Baird, W.O. Baird, Rev. Leonard 
Stockdale, Griffin Baird, Fred Grice, Lenwood Pettus James Pettus. Mrs. Waits 
passed away in Clay County Hospital on Nov. 13th at the age of 80. Survivors 
include one son, Herbert C. Waits, Ashland, with whom she made her home; one 
daughter, Mrs. William D. Jones, Michigan; three sisters, Mrs. Morris Haywood, 
Lineville; Mrs. Rebecca Smith, Gadsden; Mrs. Sallie Grice, Rockford.
