Ashland Progress
God in his infinite wisdom has seen fit to take from our midst our beloved 
cousin, Mrs. Effie Waldrop who was born January 28th, 1886 and departed this 
life April 3rd, 1921. She was 35 years, 2 months and 5 days old. She was married 
to D. C. Waldrop, December 23, 1904. To this union were born eight children, six 
of whom survive her, three daughters, three sons, also her husband, her mother 
and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. 
A. B. Robertson and Rev. T. G. Burgess and her remains were laid to rest in 
Bethany cemetery. Her sudden death was not only a shock to this community but to 
the entire country. Effie will not only be missed by the family but also by her 
friends and relatives who are not to be numbered, for to know her was to love 
her. It is sad to think of her going away and we wonder why but cannot 
understand. In years to come, however, we shall continue to look back on her 
life and think of it as an example for others to follow. May God's spirit fill 
the vacancy of that home and comfort the bereaved relatives that still remain.
