Ashland Progress
Mrs. Lavonia Waldrop, the mother of Rev. O.C. Dunaway former Clay County citizen 
passed away February 11th. Stricken with paralysis Thursday she passed serenely 
away Saturday night Her husband preceded her over seven years ago. Obed and his 
mother had been living at Bessemer for six years. Mrs. Waldrop had a kind 
Christian spirit which will be remembered by her many friends around their former 
home at Mellow Valley. Her remains were brought by her son and placed the old 
County Line cemetery by the side of her husband. Many friends were present, and 
all felt sad at her going, from the fact that she had a great host of friends. 
Her age was 75 years. A Friend.
