Roanoke Leader
This community was made sad last Wednesday evening when news came that Woodrow 
Walker, had been killed while cutting logs. He was leaning against a tree when 
the tree was struck by lightning. He was instantly killed. Mr. Walker was 21 
years of age and had been married five months. 

Jul 3, 1941, Ashland Progress:
This community was made sad on last Wednesday when lightning struck and instantly 
killed Woodrow Walker, son of J. D. H. Walker. Woodrow was 21 years of age and 
leaves his wife and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
