Ashland Progress
C. J. Ward, who fell from his barn loft last Saturday and was seriously injured, 
died Tuesday night. He became unconscious about three hours after the accident 
from which he never revived. Mr. Ward was born and reared within two miles of 
Ashland. He was a well to do farmer and highly respected in this community. He is 
the youngest son of C.N. Ward, one of Clay county's pioneer citizens, who in his 
eighty-first year, is still living. Mr. Ward leaves a wife and two children, 
besides his father, four brothers and one sister, and numerous other near 
relatives. Funeral services are held at Ashland this afternoon, and interment 
took place in the Ashland cemetery.
