Her remains were interred in Poplar Spring burying ground Saturday, the funeral service being conducted by Elder H. H. Goodman. Mrs. Watts was one of the very oldest inhabitants of the county, in fact, she was the oldest so far as we know. We are informed that she said she was born September 29, 1822. This would make her near 102 years old and according to available evidence she must have been at least that old. Some say 103. From those who knew her well it is Learned that she was born in Georgia but came with her parents to Alabama while quite young, even before the Indians were driven from this country. She is said to have spun and wove woolen material for the Indian Chiefs for leggins. She remembered much of the Indian language, also events of the war in which they were driven from this part of the country. A sketch concerning her, published in this paper in October-1922, stated that at that time she was of reasonable good health, could mend clothes, was able to converse intelligently with friends, also that some new teeth had made their appearance in her mouth, two upper and two lower front. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist church to which she was loyal and faithful. She could repeat many Bible passages.
