Services for Eller Lee "El" Welch, 65, of 151 King Ave., Ashland, will be 
Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Ashland with Revs. 
A.L. Dowell, Arthur Welch Jr., and Henry A. Sterling, Bobbie J. Street, W.T. 
Traylor and Bishop John D. Sandlin officiating. Burial will be in the church 
cemetery with Garrett Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. The family will 
receive friends Thursday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the church. Mrs. Welch died March 
23 at Clay County Hospital in Ashland. Survivors include five daughters, Shirley 
A. Holder of Anniston, Bobbie Street of Ashland, Alma J. Atkinson of Las Vegas, 
Nev., Brenda S. Heard of Alexander City, and Sharon D. Heath of Ashland; a 
stepdaughter, Geneva Ball of Anniston; four sons, James L. Ware, Charles E. 
Welch and Rodney K. Welch, all of Ashland, and Rev. Arthur Junior Welch of 
Anniston; six sisters, Reatha M. Sims, Annie L. Griffin, Marie W. Simmons, 
Christine Zackery, and Helen Ackles, all of Ashland, and Sue Hines of Heflin; 
two brothers, Joe L. Ware of Ashland and Johnny M. Ware of Heflin; 32 
grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. 
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Flower bearers will be friends and members of the 
church. Mrs. Welch was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, president of the 
Senior Choir, Matron, and Prayer Warrior Missionary. She was a homemaker, member 
of the Kitchen Committee, and a caretaker. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Arthur Welch, a son, Johnny Mack Ware, and a brother, Eddie B. Ware Jr.
