She was 75 years of age. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at the Concord Baptist Church by Rev. Truman Burgess, Jay, Fla. He was assisted by Rev. Floyd Burgess and Sim Ingram, Talladega. Interment was in the church cemetery with Blair directing. Pallbearers were: J. B. Burkhead, G. L. Roberts, James Whatley, Charles Maddox, Willie Gay Whatley and Fred Nixson. Honorary pallbearers were: J. M. Tomlin, D. W. Burkhead, Fletcher Saxon, T. A. Tomlin, John Baggett, Lee Carpenter, Mack Horn, Hiram Baggett and William Lee. Mrs. Whatley was the mother of seven children, five of whom survive. Two sons are deceased. Surviving are: Three sons, J. O. Whatley, Ashland; C. M. Whatley, Fairfax; W. E. Whatley, Lineville; two daughters, Mrs. G. O. Jenkins, Albertville; Mrs. L. Hester, Pyriton; 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers: Grover Headrick, Alexandria, Otis Headrick, Pyriton; Edd Headrick, Albertville; Jim Headrick, West Point, two sisters: Mrs. Joe Dean, Alexander City and Mrs. Oscar Carpenter, Pyriton.
