James H. White, one of the most respected citizens of our county, and who many friends in our city, died at his residence, near Ashland, on the 7th inst, of consumption. He was a member of the State legislature delegate sessions of 1870-'7l-'72-.'Z3 and delete to the Constitutional Convention of '75. He was a lawyer of fine promise. A minister of the M. E. church and was universally respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the gallant 14th Alabama and participated in the hardships and struggles of his historical command untune lost the use of his right arm. In all the relations of private and public life. He showed himself an honest mam good citizen and devoted Christian. Peace to his ashes. Additional Comments: 2nd Lieutenant, Company I, 14th Regiment Alabama Volunteers. Medically retired in December 1864. He is buried in the Old Ashland Cemetery Clay County AL.
