The Rev Clarence Jefferson Whitley 75 died Monday at Randolph County Hospital 
Arrangements for the funeral at the Mt Zion Baptist Church are incomplete 
according to Boykin and Fling Funeral Home of LaGrange. The Rev Mr. Jefferson was 
born Aug 9, 1897, in Meriwether County Ga son of the late Simon Jefferson and 
Emily Cullover Whitley. He had lived in Roanoke for the past four years and was a 
minister in LaGrange before moving to Roanoke He was a member of the New Hope 
West Baptist Church of Cragford Ala Survivors include his wife Mrs. Hattie Brown 
Whitley a daughter Mrs. Eleanor Cook and a son Roger Whitley all of Roanoke a 
sister Mrs. Ethel Thomas Griffin Ga two brothers Preston H and Thomas T Whitley 
both of Woodbury and seven grandchildren.
