Ashland Progress
Mr. Earnest Wilkerson of Wadley, Route 1, passed away in Clay County Hospital on 
April 8th at the age of 44. Funeral services for Mr. Wilkerson were held at Mt. 
Olive Baptist Church, of which he was a member at 2 p.m. on April 10th, 
conducted by the Reverends H. H. Yates, W. E. Easterwood and L.S. Blair Funeral 
Directors were in charge. Pallbearers were C. H. Stathan. Collins Foster, 
Bernard Pinkard, Forest Wyatt, Grant May, Donald Howell. He is survived by his 
wife, Mrs. Eunice Wilkerson; five daughters, Mrs. Maxie Jean Knight, Alex City; 
Mrs. Geneva White, Ridge Grove; Misses Elaine, Margaret and Patricia Wilkerson, 
Wadley Route 1. Three sons, James Donald and Anthony Keith, Wadley Route 1, and 
Delyn. Lanett. Two sisters, Mrs. Idus Graben, Lineville; Mrs. Louise Griffin. 
Three half-brothers, Sanford and Raleigh Wadley Route Clyde, Talladega, one 
half-sister, Mrs. Clara Rice, Lanett. His father, Mr. Bennie Wilkerson, Wadley 
Route and three grandchildren.
