Williams, Probate Judge of this Co., died at the residence of Rev. I. S. Weaver, near Lineville, on Friday, Sept. 5th, about 3:30 P.M., aged 46 years, two months and sixteen days. He was buried with Masonic honors at Lineville, on Saturday, the 6th. He was born in Jasper Co., GA, on the 19th day of June 1833. He was married to Miss Elizabeth A. Young on the 7th of February 1861. Himself and his wife were baptized into fellowship with Crooked Creek Church, at Lineville, in August 1871. We have had but a short personal acquaintance with Mr. Williams - scarcely two years - yet such has been his walk in life as to mark him as one of the noblest works of God, an honest Christian-hearted gentleman. His integrity as a man, and his zeal as a Christian, could not be doubted by anyone. He had found a place in the affections of the people of this Co., such as is seldom found by men in an official position. By his death the Co., has lost one of its best citizens and an efficient officer; his Lodge has lost a brilliant light, and his Church has lost a consistent brother and a zealous laborer in the cause of Christ. But heavier than all, is the loss to the widow and his three little orphaned daughter of their dearest earthly treasure - an affectionate husband and kind, indulgent father. May the Grand Architect of the Universe who has a house prepared, not made with hands, but eternal in the Heavens, and has called the husband and father to dwell therein, guard and direct the bereaved widow and orphans until it shall be His pleasure to meet the loved one gone before. We are not sufficiently acquainted with the past life of the deceased to write an obituary notice, but will leave this task to be performed by an abler pen than ours . . .
