Ashland Progress
Funeral rites for Mr. Robert Jefferson Williams of Wadley Rt. 2, were held at Mt. 
Gilead at 11 o'clock a.m. on June 22nd, conducted by Revs. Grady Birchfield, 
Herbert Williamson and J. E. Elliott Jr. Interment was in adjacent cemetery 
directed by Blair Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Earlie Knight, Lester Kenady, 
Dennis Parrish, Herman Kilgore, Bruner Harris and Crayton Kenady. Mr. Williams 
passed away in Clay County Hospital on June 20th at the age of 81. Survivors 
include his wife, Mrs. Viola K. Williams; two daughters, Mrs. E. R. Voss, Alex 
City; Mrs. Robert Powell Jasper; two sons, L. C. Williams, Baton Rouge, Huey 
Williams, Shawmut; nine grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; one brother, one 
sister and other relatives.
