Ashland Progress
A very sad death was that of Mr. H. C. Willingham in Tuscaloosa hospital 
Thursday afternoon where had been for the past 6 weeks. In his passing Delta and 
her people lost one of its most loyal and useful citizens for "Cortez" as he was 
familiarly called, always stood for the upbuilding of his community 
wholeheartedly, was a friend to all, numbered his friends by his acquaintances 
and was always so willing to accommodate anyone and especially the needy, 
regardless of the expense. He will be greatly missed by our entire community. He 
was a devoted companion and loving father. May his good virtues ever be emulated 
in the lives of his dear children. Rev. F. J. Ingram of Ashland con ducted his 
funeral, assisted by Rev. W. M. Garrett and Rev. B. W. Mathews, and he was laid 
to rest in the Delta cemetery Saturday afternoon. A large crowd attended his 
funeral and relatives from a distance will be published in next week's issue. 
Our heartfelt sympathy is extended the bereaved ones.
