The Valley Daily Times-News
Last rites for Mrs. Mary Ann Wood. 79 of Lanett were held on Saturday afternoon 
at the Bethany Baptist church in Clay County Alabama. The services were conducted 
by the Elder Harmon. Mrs. Wood died at the Valley hospital early Friday morning. 
Interment was in the Bethany cemetery with Schnedl-Jones funeral directors in 
charge. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Leotha Brooks of Lanett. Mrs. 
Betsy Higbe of LaGrange. Mrs. Laura Thrift of Opelika. Mrs. Rena Allen of West 
Point, and Mrs. Emma Smith of Lanett; two sons, Thomas Wood of Shawmut and Andrew 
Wood of Gilmer, 52 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren. and two great-great, 
grandchildren.
