Ashland Progress
Mr. Tom Wooton, a pioneer citizen of Clay County died on Oct. 10 at the home of 
Mr. John Riley. Mr. Wooton had moved to Morgan County and had come back here on a 
visit with friends and developed pneumonia and was sick only a short time. He was 
73 years of age and was a faithful member of the church of Christ. He is survived 
by his wife and two sons, Jess Wooton of Collinsville and Willie Wooton of Eva, 
Interment was in the Sardis cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry and Marshall Hobbs, 
Carl Wooton, John Mathews, Howard Stockdale and Gordon Hicks.
