Worthy, one of the oldest inhabitants of the county, died at her home near Mellow Valley July 12th, and her remains were interred in County Line cemetery, July 13th. Mrs. Worthy was 94 years and 10 months old. She was born in Georgia and came to Alabama about 1853 residing in Tallapoosa and Randolph counties till about 1871, when she moved within the present boundaries of Clay County, where she has lived ever since. She was married in 1851 to F. M. a Fargason, and to them were born five sons. After her first husband's death, she was again married in 1866 to Henry Worthy, and four children, three sons and a daughter, were born to this marriage. She was a woman of remarkable vitality and retained her mental faculties till near the time of her death Her son, Mr. E. J. Fargason, from real whom this brief sketch is obtained, desires to express upon the part of her children, their gratitude and thanks for the many kindnesses shown her in her closing days by neighbors and friends.
