A. Worthy, one of the prominent old citizens of the county, died at his home in the Mellow Valley Community Tuesday morning, following an illness of several days, and his remains were interred in County Line cemetery Wednesday. Mr. Worthys chief service as a citizen of the county was as a member of the Commissioners court in which capacity, he served two terms. He was first elected to said office in November 1904 and it was during his encumbency in office that the present county courthouse was built. His colleagues, Messers W. M. Striplin, R. O. Overton and M.M. Sumners all preceded him across the great divide the two latter having died only in a few months ago. A marble slab in the courthouse wall bears the names of each, together with the name of the architect and of Judge Ingram who was Judge of Probate and therefore chairman of commissioners Court at that time.
