Harlis Haynes, the Rev. D. Hurst and Dr. Griffith Harsh III officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. Mr. Yates died Monday at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Victory Yates of Delta; a daughter, Mrs. Patsy Giles of Delta; two sons, Robert Yates and Scott Yates, both of Delta; his mother Mrs. Ettie Yates of Lineville; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Fincher and Mrs. Vida Childs, both of LaGrange, Ga., Mrs. Ethel Schwalen-berg of Vardaman, Miss., and Mrs. Geneva Smith of Wadley; five brothers, Abra Yates of Talladega, Albert Yates of Lineville, Edward Yates of Blackburn, Mo., Cloyse Yates of Michigan, and Willis Yates of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Woodrow McVey, Lindle Graham, James L. Wynn, Jerry Peters, Thomas Wilcox and Robert Foster. Mr. Yates was a native of Clay County and a Korean War veteran. He was an employee for the state of Alabama and was a member of Union-D Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Clay County Rescue Squad.
