Services for Arthur Hubert Yates, 75, of Ashland were today at Blair-Brock 
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Elmer Wheeles and the Rev. Jack Drinkwater 
officiating. Burial was in Cragford Cemetery. Mr. Yates died Tuesday in Clay 
County Nursing Home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth J. Yates of Ashland; 
three daughters, Mrs. Cauline McCain of Cragford, Mrs. Geraldine Shaddix of 
Jasper and Ms. Judy Yates of Opelika; two sons, Lloyd Yates of Pelham and 
Russell Yates of Opelika; four sisters, Mrs. O'Neal Green of Ashland, Mrs. Kate 
Fomby of Electic, Mrs. Urada Gravette of Gonzales, and Mrs. Eda McKay of 
Ashland; two brothers, Sutton Yates of Daphne and Russell Yates of Mobile; 18 
grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were Steve Yates, Jimmy 
Yates, Scott Yates, Timothy McCain, Johnny McVey and Duane Barrand. Mr. Yates 
was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County and a Baptist. He was a 
retired heavy equipment operator for the Clay County Commission after 40 years 
of service.
