Obituary
Mr. Isaac Young was born in Hall County, Ga.,
April 3, 1819, and died at his home in Clay
county, Ala. Jul 19, 1889.
Mr. Young came to Alabama, in October 1838, and
settled where Mr. Wm. Farrow now lives near
Wesobulga, Ala. He remained there only a few
years when he removed to his place five miles
east of Lineville, where he lived nearly fifty
years.
   Among the pioneers of this country were such men
as Mitchell Gay, William Wood, W. P. Bell and
Jahu Orr. With these Mr. Young had a lifelong
intimate friendship. These men gave character
to this country in its early settlement. Their
common interest demanded law and order, and their
united efforts had much to do in repressing crime.
   Mr. Young's life was not free from faults, but
be it said to his credit, they were not malicious,
and he himself was the victim of those faults. When
questions of religion, morals and temperance, 
became matters of public issue he was found on the
right side always. This seeming inconsistency
was made clear to those who heard his religious
experience, which dated back several years.
   Some time before his death Mr. Young sent for
Rev. Jas E. McCain, and by his own request was
received into the M. E. Church South.
This gave him much comfort, and he never ceased
to thank God for his wonderful mercies, and
to admonish his children and friends to live
Christian lives.
