Talladega County Marriage Book B, 1856-, p. 253
State of Alabama, Talladega County:  To any of the judges of said state, any 
justice of the peace of said county or any other persons legally authorized.
These are to authorize you or either of you to solemnize the rites of matrimony 
between Thos. L. Johnson and Miss Sarah A. Carpenter of said county agreeable 
to the statutes in such cases made and provided.  Given at the office of the 
Judge the Judge of Probate of said County, this 11th day of August 1858.  Wm. 
H. Thornton, Judge of Probate

In virtue of the above license I have solemnized the rights of matrimony 
between the above named persons the 12th day of August 1858. John C. Jordan, 
M.G.

Additional Comments:
Sarah Abigail Carpenter was the daughter of James Warren Carpenter and Sarah 
Abigail Harlan.  She was born on Dec. 16, 1842, and died on March 31, 1924.  
She is buried in Franklin Co., Alabama.
