More importance is attached on account of the prominence of the families thus united. Mr. J. J. Haynes of Ashland, Ala., and Miss Minnie Bell of Lineville were the contracting parties. The church was most beautifully decorated with ferns and flowers. Over each aisle leading to the altar stood an arch of exquisite flowers. On one arch was inscribed "Haynes" and on the other "Bell". The attendants were L. R. Moon with Miss Mattie Bell, E. L. Whatley of Ashland with Miss Emma Haynes of Ashland, H. J. Willingham with Miss Sallie Nichols, Stell Blake of Wedowee with Miss. Lizzie Upshaw, Miss Claudia Evans, attended by J. F. Willingham, presided at the organ, Rev. W. J. D. Upshaw pronouncing the marriage ceremony. Mr. J. J. Haynes is a rising young attorney, who numbers his friends by his acquaintances. Until a year ago his home was Lineville. The bride is a daughter of J. A. Bell, tax collector for Clay County. Her accomplishments, beauty and sweet disposition made her a general favorite among her friends, who are loath to give her up. Rev. W. A. Whittle, D. D. and H. R. Dill. Esq., both of Birmingham, will respectively preach the commencement sermon and deliver the annual address at the closing exercises of Lineville college in June.
