LIGON; PETITION of W.M. LIGON TO SELL PERSONAL PROPERTY State of Alabama, Cleburne County Court of Probate March 2nd 1868 This day came W.M. Ligon, Admr. of the estate of Noel N. Ligon, deceased, and filed his petition in writing for an order to sell the following described personal property to wit: 1 black mule, $50. 2 yearling calves $12. 1 buggy and harness $40. 1 lot of plow hoes $2.20 1 hand axe and 2 club axes $3.00 1 lot of axes and 1 iron wedge $1.50 1 draw knife and 1 old hand saw $1. 1 Pr. Steelyards $1.50 1 sythe and cradle $3. 2 Bee Hives $ .60 1/4 interest in cotton gin $10. 1/30 interest in syrup mill and kettles $3. 1 surveyers chain $2. 1 set wagon hubs $2. 1 chain $2. 1 spade .50 3 shoats $3. He alleges that a sale thereof is necessary for the payment of the debts of said decedent. He therefore petitions your honor to grant an order authorizing and empowering him to sell the same or any portion thereof as may seem fit and proper to your honor at the time and place and on such terms as are made and provided by law as may please your honor to direct, all of which is respectfully submitted. W.M. Ligon, Admr. Court of Probate, Cleburne County March 5th 1868 This day came W.M. Ligon, Admr. of the estate of Noel N. Ligon of said county, deceased, and filed in said court his petition in writing praying to sell the personal property of said decedent. The premises considered by the court is satisfied the petition should be granted, therefore ordered that W.M. Ligon proceed to sell the personal property of said estate as the law directs. A.D. Chandler, Judge of Probate ______ REBEKAH HOGAN, WIDOW OF CHANDLER HOGAN, PETITION for LETTERS of ADMINISTRATION State of Alabama, Cleburne County May 27th 1868 The petition of Rebekah A. Hogan, widow of Chandler hogan, deceased, represents to your honor that Chandler Hogan died intestate in Cleburne County, Alabama has effects in said county, and prays your honor to grant her letters of administration on the estate of Chandler Hogan to your petitioner in duty bound. This May 27th 1868. Rebekah A. Hogan, X, her mark Administrator's Bond State of Alabama, Cleburne County Know all men by these presents that we Rebekah A. Hogan and Elijah Hogan are held and firmly bound unto A.D. Chandler, Judge of the Probate court and his successors in office in the sum of five hundred dollars for which payment will and truly be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators firmly by these presents, signed and sealed the 27th day of May 1868. The condition of the above obligation is such that the above bound Rebekah A. Hogan has this day been appointed Administratrix of the estate of Chandler B. Hogan, late of Cleburne County, Alabama, deceased. Now if the above Rebekah A. Hogan shall well and truly discharge all the duties that are or may be required of her by law as such administratrix, then the above obligation given to her will be null and void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. BABER's PETITION TO SELL LANDS OF ESTATE OF KELLET COKER, Deceased State of Alabama, Cleburne County Probate Court April 25, 1868 The petition of James Baber, administrator of the estate of Kellet Coker, deceased (formerly of Benton Bounty but now of Cleburne County) represents to your honor that Kellet Coker died seized and possesed of the following lands to wit: the NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of section Sixteen Township Fifteen and Range Eleven and the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section Sixteen Township Fifteen and Range Eleven and NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section Sixteen Township Fifteen and Range Eleven....and one half interest in the house and lot at Fair Play; and that James L. Thomas and Nancy Thomas his wife are over twenty one years old and reside in the State of Georgia, Spaulding County; Martha Coker is over twenty one years old and resides in the State of Georgia, Spaulding County; William Coker is over twenty one years old and resides in the State of Georgia, Coweta County; Mary Driver is over twenty one years old and resides in Cleburne County, Alabama; James Coker is over twenty one years old and resides in Cleburne County, Alabama; Josiah Coker is over twenty one years old and resides in the State of Georgia in Coweta County; the heirs of Abner Coker are under twenty one years old and reside in the State of Georgia in Coweta County; all of whom are heirs of Kellet Coker, deceased and your petitioner represents to your honor that the above described lands cannot be fairly and equitably divided amongst said heirs without a sale and prays your honor to grant him an order to sell said lands in duty bound, your petitioner prays. State of Alabama, Cleburne County Probate Court April 25th 1868 This day James Baber who after being duly sworn deposeth on oath and says that the allegations contained in the within petition are true to the best of his knowledge and belief; sworn and subscribed bfore me this 25th day of April 1868. Ordered this day by the court that W.R. Hunnicutt be and is hereby appointed Guardian Adlitem of the minor heirs of Abner Coker to represent their interest in the estate of Kellet Coker, deceased. A.D. Chandler, Judge of Probate ___________ JOHN W. BARNETT, APPRENTICED TO AMOS BARNETT State of Alabama, Cleburne County Probate Court July 11, 1868 Application having been made this day by Amos Barnett and an order obtained binding to Amos Barnett, John William Barnett, minor orphan aged six years, on the 24rd day of June 1868 whose mother is indigent and unable to provide for the maintenance and education of the minor, it is therefore ordered by the court that the said John William Barnett, a minor, be apprenticed unto the said Amos Barnett, he having complied with the law in such case made and provided. A.D. Chandler, Judge of Probate ____ ORDER APPOINTING JAMES KEMP AS ADMINISTRATOR OF ESTATE OF DAVID BLACK State of Alabama, Cleburne County July 6th 1868 At this term of the court, letters of administration on the estate of David Black, late of Cleburne County, deceased, are hereby granted to James Kemp who has duly qualified and given bond as such and is authorized to administer such estate. Dated this 6th day of July 1868. A.D. Chandler, Judge of Probate State of Alabama, Cleburne County Know all men by these presents that we, James Kemp, John P. Burgess and J.W. Wiggonton are held and firmly bound unto A.D. Chandler, Judge of Probate court and his successors in office in the sum of one thousand dollars for which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs, executors and administrators, firmly by these presents. Signed and sealed the 6th day of July 1868. The condition of the above obligation is such that the above bound James Kemp has this day been appointed administrator of the estate of David Black, late of Cleburne county, deceased. Wiggonton. _________ LETTERS TESTAMENTARY TO DAVID CREAMER, EXECUTOR OF LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF MATHEW CREAMER, deceased State of Alabama, Cleburne County July 15th 1868 This day came David Creamer, executor of the Last Will and Testament of Mathew Creamer, late of the county of Nevada and state of California, deceased, and makes suit to said court to grant to him Letters Testamentary on all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of said testator and the said David Creamer having complied with the requisitions of the law, it is ordered by the court that Letters Testamentary issue to the said David Creamer on the Last Will and Testament of Mathew Creamer, late of the county of Nevada, state of California, deceased. This 15th day of July 1868, at the term of the court, the Will of Mathew Creamer of the County of Nevada, State of California having been admitted to record in said court, Letters Testamentary are hereby granted to David Creamer, the executor named in said will, and who is authorized to take upon himself the execution of such will.
