Anderson Register of the Land Office, do hereby certify that the above application is the Surveyed Land of the class which the applicant is legally entitled to enter under the Homestead Act of May 20, 1862, and that there is no prior, valid, Adverse right to the same. Anderson, Register [Affidavit] Land Office at Montgomery, Ala., Nov 13, 1869 I, Eatha Langley of Cleburne County, Ala., having filed my application No. 2214, for Entry under the provisions of the act of Congress approved May 20, 1862, entitled: An act to secure Homesteads to Actual Settlers on the Public Domain,” do solemnly swear that I am a widow the head of a family dependent on my own resources for a live li house a citizen of the United States; that said Application No 2214 is made for the purpose of Settlement and Cultivation, and that said Entry is for my exclusive use and benefit, and not directly or indirectly for the use of benefit of any other person or persons whomsoever; and I have not heretofore had the benefit of this Act, and that I am unable to visit the office at Montgomery by reasons of Great Distance (Signed) Eatha (her mark) Langley Sworn to and subscribed, this 15th day of October 1869, before me James Baber, Clerk of the Circuit Court for Cleburne County; as witness my hand and the official Seal of the said Court, hereto affixed. Langley has made payment in full for fractional E ½ of NE ¼ of Section 36, and fractional S ½ of SE ¼ of section No 25 in township 16 South of range No. 12 east containing 130 26/100 acres. Now, therefore, let it be known, That on presentation of this Certificate to the Commissioner of the General Land Office, the said Eatha M. Langley the sum of Four dollars (blank) cents, being the balance of payment required by law for the entry of Fractional East half of North East Quarter of Sec. 36, and fractional South half of South East Quarter of Section 25 in Township 16 South of Randge 12 East containing 130 26/100 acres, under Section 2291 of the Revised Statutes of the United States. (signed) Peyton Finley, Receiver Final Affidavit Required of Homestead Claimants I, Eatha M. Langley, having made a Homestead entry of the fl. E ½ of NE ¼ of Sec. 36 and fl S ½ of SE ¼ section No 25 in township No 16S, of frange No 12 East subject to entry at Montgomery, Ala under the first section of the Homestead Act of 1862, do now apply to perfect my claim thereto by virtue of the first probiso to the second Section of said act; and for that purpose do solemnly swear that I am a citizen of te United States; that I have made actual settlement upon and have cultivated said land, having resided thereon since the 13th day of November 1869, to the present time; that no part of said land has been alienated, but that I am the sole bona fide owner as an actual settler; and that I will bear true allegiance ot the Government of the United States. (signed with her actual signature) Eatha M Langley I, Pelham J, Anderson Register, of the Land Office at Montgomery, Ala, do hereby certify that the above affidavit was taken and subscribed before me this 8th day of January, 1876. (signed) P. J. Anderson, Register We, William J. Gentry and John J. Langley do solemnly swear that we have known Eatha M. Langley for 7 years last past; that she is the head of a family consisting of 10 children and is a citizen of te United States; that she is an inhabitant of the fl E ½ of NE ¼ of Sec 36, & S ½ of SE ¼ of section 25 in Township NO 16S of Range No 12 Et and that no other person resided upon the said land entitled to the right of Homestead or Pre-emption. That the said Eatha M Langley entered upon and made settlement on said land on Or before the 13th day of November, 1869, and has built a house thereon and has lived in the said house and made it her exclusive home from & before the 13th day of November 1869, to the present timem and that she has, since said settlement, plowed fenced, and cultivated about 50 acres of said land, and has made the following improvements thereon, to wit; a two room dwelling house, smoke house stable, corn crib, Cotton house, fodder house, shuck house, fruit orchard & vegetable garden.
