Skinner of Cleburne County, Ala. do hereby apply to enter, under the provisions of the Act of Congress approved May 20, 1862, entitled "An Act to secure Homesteads to Actual Settlers on the Public Domain", the fractional NE 1/4 & SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Section 25 in Township 16 S of Range 12 East containing 137 49/100 acres. Skinner of Cleburne County, Ala. having filed my application No. 2215 for an entry under the provisions of the Act of Congress approved May 20, 1862 entitled "An Act to Secure Homesteads to Actual Settlers on the Public Domain", do solemnly swear that I am the head of a family and a citizen of the United States; that said application No. 2215 is made for the purpose of settlement and cultivation and that said entry is for my exclusive use and benefit, and not for the use or benefit of any other person or persons whomsoever; and I have not heretofore had the benefit of this Act and that I am unable to visit the land office at Montgomery by reason of great distance. Skinner the sum of fourteen dollars, being the amount of fee and compesnation of Register and Receiver for the entry of Frac't NE 1/4 and SE 1/3 of NW 1/4 of Section Twenty Five in Township Sixteen S of Range Twelve E under the acts of congress approved May 20, 1862 and March 21, 1864 entitled "An Act to Secure Homesteads to Actual Settlers on the Public Domain." DIngley, Receiver January 6, 1876 Final Affidavit Required of Homestead Claimants I, Samuel P Skinner, having made a Homestead entry of the frac't NE 1/4 and SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 Section No. 25 in Township No. 16 South of range 12 East, subject to entry at Montgomery, Ala. under the first section of the Homestead Act of 1862, I do now apply to perfect my claim thereto by virtue of the first proviso to the second section of said act; and for that purpose I solemnly swear that I am a citizen of the United States; that I have made actual settlement upon and have cultivated said land, having resided thereon since before the 13th day of November 1869 to the present time; that no part of said land has been alienated; but that I am the sole bona fide ownde rof the actual settler; and that I will bear true allegience to the government of the United States. January 6, 1876 Final Proof Required Under Homestead Act May 20, 1862 We, Joseph R. Gentry and Gilbert Gay, do solemnly swear that we have known Samuel P. Skinner for six years last past; that he is the head of a fmaily consisting of a wife and children and is a citizen of the United States; that he is an inhabitant of the fractional NE 1/4 & SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Section No. 25 in Township No. 16 S of Range No. 12 E and that no other person resided upon the said land entitled to the right of Homestead or Pre-Emption. That the said Samuel P. Skinner entered upon and made settlement on said land on or before the 13th day of November 1869 and has built a house thereon and has lived in the said house and made it his exclusive home from before the 13th day of November 1869 to the present time and that he has, since said settlement, plowed, fenced and cultivated about 25 to 30 acres of said land and has made the following improvements thereon, to wit: A one room dwelling house, kitchen, stable, corn crib, fruit orchard and vegetable garden. January 6, 1876 Homestead Land Office at Montgomery, Ala Final Certificate No. 801 Application No. 2215 It is hereby certified that pursuant to the provisions of the act of Congress approved May 20, 1862 entitled "An Act to secure homesteads to actual settlers on the public domain", Samuel P. Skinner has made payment in full for fractional North East quarter and South East Quarter of North West Quarter of Section No. 25 in Township No. 16 South of Range No. 12 East containing 137 49/100 acres. Now therefore be it known that on presentation of this certificate to the Commissioner of the General Land Office, the said Samuel P.
