McKleroy, age 84 years, a resident of Trickem, County of Cleburne, State of Alabama, who being first duly sworn according to law, deposes and says that he is a citizen of the United States and is the identical John B. McKleroy who served under the name of John B. McKleroy as a 2nd Sergeant in the company commanded by Capt. William O. Wagner in the regiment commanded by Chasteen in the Florida Indian Wars of 1837 and 1838.  That he enlisted in Carroll County, Georgia, that his wife is now living, that he has before made application for bounty land, having received 160 acres land warrant.   His post office is Trickem, Cleburne County, Alabama.                 John B. Weir Declaration for Invalid Pension, Acts of June 27, 1890 and May 9, 1900 State of Alabama, County of Cleburne, on this 30th day of July, A.D. one thousand nine hundred, personally appeared before me, J.H. Crumpton, a JP Ex.Off.JP  within and for the County and State aforesaid, John B. McKleroy, age 93 years, a resident of Cleburne County, State of Alabama, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical John B. McKleroy, who was enrolled on the ?  Day of ?  1836 in 5th Bttn GA Militia, Capt. Maynard's Co., Maj. Wilson and Capt. Parrs Co., Woods Reg. GA Vol, 1836 Indian War and served at least 90 days and was honorably discharged at Camp Hall and Westpoint, Georgia in 1838.  That he has not been employed in Military or Naval Service otherwise than stated above. That he is now not able to earn a support by manual labor by reason of blindness, old age and general debility.  That he is a pensioner under Certificate number 208. He hereby appoints with full power of substitution and revocation, H.A. Perryman of Heflin, Alabama his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim and to receive a fee of ten dollars, that his post office address is Methvin (?), County of Cleburne, State of Alabama. McElroy and Miss Ninnie Brown, and to join them together in matrimony and to certify the same in writing to this office as required by law.  Given under my hand, this 15th day of July 1898.                   A.A. Indian Wars Claim of Widow for Service Pension under Act of July 27, 1892 State of Alabama, County of Cleburne; On this 27th day of October, one thousand nine hundred and three, personally appeared before me a Notary Public within and for the County and State aforesaid, Lucinda C. McKleroy, age 39 years, a resident of Trickem, in the State of Alabama, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is a widow of John B. McKleroy, deceased, who was the identical person who served ....in Indian Wars....that after leaving the service he resided in Carroll County, GA and at Cleburne County, Alabama, that she was married to him on the 17th day of July 1898 at James Smith's by G.M. Pirkle, JP, under the name of Ninnie Brown, and that John B. McKleroy had previously been married to Betsy Ann Jones who died in Jan. or Feb. of 1896;  that she has not heretofore made application for pension, that the number of the claim is 208, that she is a citizen of the United States, that her post office address is Trickem, in County of Cleburne, State of Alabama.  Lucinda C. McKleroy Application for a New Certificate of Pension State of Alabama, County of Cleburne On the 20th day of February, 1922 before me, a Justice of the Peace for said County, personally appeared Lucinda C. McKleroy, who on oath declares that she is 56 years old, widow of John B. McKleroy, that she received a pension certificate, that she has not bartered, assigned, sold or pledged her pension certificate or an interest therein, but that on or about the 25th day of December, 1918 at or near her home near Bells Mills, Cleburne County, Alabama, her home with all of her household effects including her pension certificate was destroyed by fire and that she does not remember the number and date of said certificate.                                               Lucinda McKleroy, her mark Post office address is Heflin, Ala  R1 Also personally appeared, E.P. McKleroy, widow of John B. McKleroy, on this 5th day of November 1903, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public and Ex. Off. J.P. in and for the aforesaid county, duly authorized to administer oaths, N.A. McKleroy, age 22 years, a resident of Trickem in the County of Cleburne and State of Alabama, whose post office is Trickem, Alabama, who being duly sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid case as follows: That her (N.A. McKleroy) husband was a grandson of John B. and Betsy Ann McKleroy that she knew them both well for as long as she can remember, and that she was present and saw Betsy Ann McKleroy prepared for burial the day after she died.  And that it was about 7 years ago but do knot know exact date. And that she visited John B. McKleroy during his last sickness and that she did attend the funeral of said John B. McKleroy and saw the body interred in the Lee burying ground on Oct 23, 1903.   She further declares that she has no interest in said case and is not concerned in its prosecution.  N.A. McKleroy March 15, 1904 Old War and Navy Files No. 9547 Indian Wars The State of Alabama, County of Cleburne; Personally appeared before me John H. Crumpton, Notary Public and Ex.Off.JP in and for said State and County, Mary Lee, aged 80 years, whose post office address is Bells Mills, Alabama RFD#l, who being by me duly sworn deposes and says that she has known John B. McKleroy since he was a young man and ever since before he was first married to Elizabeth Jones, and that they were living near her when the first wife (Elizabeth) died, and that she was present and saw Elizabeth McKleroy (commonly called Betsy Ann) buried and also saw John B. McKleroy buried in the Lee burial grounds near her residence.  And that John B. McKleroy was never married other than to Elizabeth Jones and to Lucinda C. Brown and that she has no interest in the said Lucinda C. McKleroy's claim for a pension.  Mary Lee, her mark Wits: G.W. Lee           N.J. Wise, age 70 years and M.A. Wise, aged 70 years whose post office address is Bells Mills, Ala RFD #l who being duly sworn each depose and say that they knew John B. McKleroy for a long time, were living about 200 yards from him when he died, visited him almost daily in his last sickness and that he died Oct 21, 1903.  And that they have known Lucinda C. McKleroy for a long time and that prior to her marriage to John B. McKleroy, she went by the name of Ninnie Brown.  That they lived together has husband and wife till said John B. McKleroy died and that Lucinda C. McKleroy is yet living near them and has not remarried since the death of her husband, and that she was never married other than to said John B. Crumpton, NP & ExOff JP Application for Reimbursement for Burial Expenses State of Alabama, County of Cleburne On this 1st day of March 1941, before me, the undersigned, personally appeared Mandy Beason, age 49 years, a resident of Heflin, Route 2, County of Cleburne, State of Alabama, who makes the following declaration as an application for and claim is hereby made for reimbursement from the accrued pension for expenses paid in the last sickness and burial of Lucinda C. McKleroy, who was a pensioner of the United States by certificate, and who died Jan 22, 1941 at my home in Heflin, Rt. 2, and was buried at Wise Chapel, Cleburne County, Alabama.,,,, 1.  What was the full name of the decedent pensioner: Lucinda Caroline McKleroy 2.  In what capacity was decedent pensioned, as widow of which soldier? Widow of John B. McKleroy 3.  If married, did his wife survive him?    Yes      How many times was the soldier married?   Twice...I do not know the name of      his first wife, Lucinda B. McKleroy was his second wife.      His first wife died before his second marriage, but do not know the date the          first wife died... 4.  Did pensioner/widow leave a child under 16 yrs of age?  No 5, 6, 7, not applicable 8.  Was there life insurance at time of death of pensioner/widow, and if so,                what was the name of the company, and amount of policy, etc.  She carried        burial insurance with Brown Service Ins. Co.  It paid no cash but only  provided for her burial. 9 through 18 not applicable 19.  What was your relationship to the deceased pensioner?  Only Child 20.  Are you married?   Yes 21.  Was the pensioner’s cause of death?  Paralysis and old age 22.  When did the pensioner’s last sickness begin?   1937 23.  From what date did the pensioner become so ill as to require the daily attendance of another person constantly until death?  Oct 1937...she never walked after that day. 24.  Give the name of the post office of each physician who attended the pensioner during last sickness:  Dr. B.F.
