These relics consists of a couple of wooden boxes and a bed quilt made from a calico dress brought over at the same time, all in good preservation, with one exception of the calico being faded, and a small hole in the quilt near the middle. These goods were brought to this country by their grandfathers, Mr. Wm McDonald, of Scotland, and Mr. James Caldwell, of Ireland. The boxes were made the old-fashioned way without any nails and were used for carrying their provisions. We learn these boxes are well preserved, and the flax wheels we learn, are nearly as good as new. The calico and cloth that the quilt is made of was brought over in one of the boxes by Mr. McDonald. The calico was made into a dress, and for fear it would be stolen by some of the British soldiers during the Revolutionary War of 1776, it was buried in the ground for safe keeping. After the war when taken out the dress was found to be a little faded, and soon after was made into a bed quilt by one of the girls, that is the calico and the cloth together, and is a very good quilt yet. The owners of these relics should send them to the World's Exposition at New Orleans this fall, by all means.
