The school extends it's sympathy and hopes that Dr. Harris will soon recover and Miss Minnie will be back in school. __ DIED - - Dr. Harris died at his house in Clay County yesterday as a result of a stroke of paralysis. Dr. Harris was well known here and the people sympathize with the bereaving family. He was 79 years old. __ DIED - - Mrs. Martha Morse died suddenly Tuesday morning near Temple, GA at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Gus Westbrooks. Mrs. Morse was a sister of Mr. D.A. Perryman of this city. She had for several years made an annual visit to her brother's home. She was born in Jones County on April 6, 1824. Although in her seventy-eighth year she was possessed of great vitality both mentally and physically. Mrs. Morse was a constant member of the Christian church. When the summons came she was filling a lunch basket for her little grandsons who were going to school. Her last audible sentence was "may the good lord ease my pain and shorten my days". She was buried at Liberty church near Temple. Mrs. J.R. Little and Miss Ella Perryman attended the funeral. ___ NEWSPAPER Issue of Saturday, January 31, 1903 Elma Zaner pleaded guilty to manslaughter in first degree. The case of Elma Zaner as called in the county court Wednesday and the state and defense both announced ready for trial and the jury was empaneled. The solicitor announced that he would not press the charge of murder in the first degree and would accept a plea of manslaughter in the first degree.
