Fowler, one of Cleburne's most prominent citizens was in the city yesterday. __ Mrs. W.V. Fowler of Troy, Miss., arrived in the city this morning and will spend several weeks with relatives and friends in this and Randolph counties. __ Mrs. Lon Daniel who was thrown from a buggy near Simmons saw mill one day last week and quite painfully injured, we are glad to say is rapidly improving. __ John W. Kitchens and Miss Victoria McCrary united in marriage, last Sunday evening at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.E. McCrary of Abner, Clay county, Ala. The groom is well known in this city and entire section, being one of our most popular merchants and the bride is one of Clay county's leading young ladies and numbers her friends and acquaintances by the score. The happy couple arrived in the city last Monday and are comfortably domiciled at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Hunnicutt on Ross street. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of November 30, 1893 Mr. J.M. Prestridge of Oakfurkee was in to see us Tuesday. He informs us that he will shortly leave this county for Everett, GA where he will reside in the future. We regret to lose such a worthy citizen as Mr. Prestridge from our county. __ Born, to Mrs. and Mrs. J.F. Morgan on last Saturday, a ten pound girl. J.F. is all smiles. __ Born last week to Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Moore, a ten pound girl. Jim is all smiles and informs us that mother and daughter are doing well. __ Mrs. J.J. Mims left last week for Tifton, GA where she will reside in the future. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of December 7, 1893 BELL's MILLS COMMUNITY NEWS On last Tuesday evening, near Bell's Mills, Mr. J.A. Yother happened to the sad accident of getting one of his arms torns off while unwrapping a belt from a shaft while in motion. Somehow his arm got entangled in the belt and was torn entirely off. Drs. Neal and Harrison dressed the wound and at last acounts he was doing as well as could be expected. Mr. Yother is one of Cleburne's best citizens and we regret very much to learn of his sad accident. __ Mr. J.A. Howle is quite sick. We hope he will be up again soon. __ Mr. John Stephens had the pleasure of killing a fine buck last week. __ Mrs. Timmons of Tuskaloosa, Ala, visited her sister Mrs. Barker here last week. __ LOCAL CITY NEWS (Heflin) Mr. A.J. Simmons hd a fine ox and several hogs killed by lightning at the saw mill last Sunday. __ Lon Daniel had a fine pony killed by lightning out at simmons and Bagwell's saw mill last Sunday. __ Born, unto Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Chatman, on last Monday night, a fine boy. W.T. says he is a true blue democrat. __ Mr. S.M. Roberts left last night for Mississippi where he goes to visit his son, S.M. Roberts Jr. __ J.W. Beason and family of Beason's Mills, left for Humbolt, Tennessee. We wish them success in their new home. __ Mr. J.H. Morris, for years a resident of this county and one of our most prominent and prosperous farmers was in to see us Tuesday. He informed us that he will leave next Sunday for Doublin, Texas where he and his family will reside in the future. I.N. Morris of near this city and one of our best young farmers, also leaves on Sunday next for Doublin, Texas. We regret very much to lose them from among us, but Heflin's loss is Doublin's gain. __ WILDWOOD Local News Miss Lucinda Braden, daughter of R.E. Braden, died last Saturday at the home of her brother, D.J. Braden. She was buried Sunday evening at Valley Grove church. __ Mr. Wilson Lambert will leave for Texas soon. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Thursday, December 19, 1893 Mr. E.H. Harrison of Canon, Colorado visited his brother Dr. J.M. Harrison in the city this week. __ Miss Simmie Montgomery of Oxford, who has been visiting her sister Mrs. J.R. Robson in the city, returned home last Friday. __ Mr. Stephen Nixon was last week appointed notary public and ex-officio justice of the peace by Governor Jones for Beat 12, Chullafinnee. Mr. Nixon is a good man in the right place. __ Just as we go to press news reached us of the burning death of Pat Cheaves of Texas, while attempting to secure some valuables belonging to him which were in a store house which was burning.
