F.W. Vaughan passed from the scenes and labors of active life into that rest which remaineth unto the children of god, at his home at White Oak, Texas on August 1, 1904, aged 83 years, and his remains were laid to rest Aug 2nd in the Creekmore graveyard beside his companion who had preceded him to the better land. Rev. W.H. Austin conducted the religious services, witnessed by a goodly concourse of relatives and friends. Bro. Vaughan was a native of South Carolina, but has been identified as a citizen of Georgia and Alabama before casting his lot with the people of Texas. He was a very energetic man despite his years of infirmity. It is probable that he shortened his days by too much physical exertion. As a quite dignified, asassuming christian gentleman, letting his light shine as becometh one who studied to show himself approved unto god, workman that neededth not to be ashamed, won him the esteem of all good men. When a young man he entered the ministry and for 50 years it was his pleasure to proclaim the glad tidings of salvation to multitudes of people covering a large scope of country and thousands of miles of travel. Bro. Vaughan was the faithful and efficient pastor of Rocky Point church for several years and will be greatly missed....
