T.H. Howle who has been quite low and ill for some time and as we go to press we learn he is no better. Mr. and Mrs. V.G. Howle of Anniston have been here since Saturday night at the bedside of his father. __ Miss Alma Grantham of Harmon, GA arrived here this week. She is a cousin of Mrs. Owen Black. __ Mrs. Jno. W. Kitchens is very sick with pneumonia. Dr. Wright is the attending physician and an Atlanta lady is the nurse. We hope her recovery will be speedy. __ NEWSPAPER issue of Saturday, November 12, 1904 Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Owen and son of Hico, Texas spent Thursday night in the city the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Reeves. Mrs. Owens and Mrs. Reeves are sisters. They have been visiting W.H. Harday at Lineville for several days. __ DIED - - Moses Kemp of near Kemp Creek died at his home Tuesday and was buried at Lebanon cemetery on Wednesday. Mr. Kemp was 77 years, 8 months and 18 days old. ___ DIED - - Mrs. W.P. Ayers died at her home near Micaville on Wednesday and was buried on Thursday. __ Mathew Smith and sister of Rockdale were in the city this first of the week. __ NEWSPAPER Notice of Saturday, November 19, 1904 Miss Ione Shaw who has been with her cousin Miss Ethel Davis of Tallapoosa, GA for the past month is at home again. __ Mrs. J.D. Hudson of Weavers was visiting her father and mother Mr. and Mrs. James Hilton at Beason's Mill last week. __ John Autrey is visiting his father at Tallapoosa this week. __ D. E. Bryant and family will leave for Texas next week where they will make their future home. __ Mr. and Mrs. Homer Nix left last week for Texas. Success to them. __ Mrs. W.H. Waters was the guest of Mrs. Carreker on Wednesday. __ LEGAL NOTICE - - Notice of Final Settlement State of Alabama, Cleburne County Probate Court November 11, 1904 In the matter of the estate of M.R. Bell, deceased; The statement of account, vouchers and evidences of Mrs. P.C. Bell, administratrix of the estate of M.R. Bell, deceased, having been filed in the Probate Court of Cleburne county, Ala., for a final settlement of estate. It is ordered that the 7th day of December 1904 be appointed the day on which to make such final settlement at which time all persons interested in said estate may appear and contest said settlement if they think proper to do so. Done at office November 12, 1904. A.A. Hurst, Judge of Probate ____ DIED - - at Micaville, Cleburne County, Alabama at 6:30 p.m. on November 9, 1904, Mrs. Dilia Ayers, wife of Mr. W.P. Ayers, after he last illness of two weeks duration, surrounded by her friends and family, quietly and peacefully passed from earth to the joys of everlasting life. A noble, christian woman, a loving mother, affectionate wife and consistent friend has left us. She leaves behind to grieve over her untimely departure, three children, two boys and a little girl of three summers, a husband, a father, one sister, Mrs. John Cook of near Bells Mills and two brothers now in Texas. The family and friends have our sincere and heartfelt sympathy and trust that he who tempers the wind to the showrn lamb will care for and protect the little ones, so early in life, deprived of a mother's love. T.A. Dolan, Eudora, Ala. ___ NEWSPAPER Issue of Saturday, November 26, 1904 E.P. Pesnell was in the city this week. __ W.H. Howle was in Heflin yesterday. Four weeks ago Mr. Howle was thrown from a buggy while going down Ross mountain and Friday was his first visit to town. His shoulder blade was fractured and several other injuries were received. ___ Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Johns of Edwardsville were Heflin visitors last Saturday. We are glad to see Mrs. Johns looking well again. Her health is better than it has been in about three years. ___ Messrs. Charlie Mims, Sam White, Lauson Waldrup and Hubert Cochran were out shooting birds Thanksgiving. They had good luck. __ Raleigh Gibbs has accepted a position with the Southern Railway as night operator at Villa Rica, GA. __ Mrs. J.S. Bolt is on the sick list this week. __ D. P. Barker and A.P. Barker were callers of the New Era yesterday. The latter gentleman has just returned from Riesel, Texas where he has been for the past fifteen months. We are glad that he has returned and decided to make Cleburne his future home. These young men are sons of our E.G.
