McElroy of Fruithurst, brought to Heflin Monday night and turned over to county authorities. Easterwood was carried to Calhoun county jail Tuesday morning by Sheriff H.A. Jackson. ____ News was received here Saturday morning of the destruction by fire of a barn belonging to Dave White, who lives just over the line in Randolph county. The fire occurred last Friday night and destroyed two mules, several hundred bundles of fodder, corn and other feed stuffs and farming implements, it is said. ____ J.D. Duke and J.B. Robertson left Monday on a motor trip to Florida and other points. They will be away about three weeks. ___ IMON MARTIN DIED IN ANNISTON LAST FRIDAY Funeral services for Imon W. Martin, who died late Friday afternoon, were held at Muscadine Monday and were in charge of Rev. A. Warmack. Mr. Martin is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Martin of Anniston, one brother, H.M. Martin of West Palm Beach, Fla., and one sister, Mrs. R.L. Dingler of West Palm Beach. The deceased had lived in Anniston for several years, having moved there from Muscadine. He had many friends who were sorry to learn of his death. _____ Mr. and Mrs. Billie Anderson and son Hugh, passed through Heflin on Monday enroute to their home near Abernathy, from a visit to relatives in Arp, Tyler, Jacksonville and other Texas points. "Aunt" Alice is in the notion of moving to that country next year ? ____ A letter from our old friend, E.W. Beason Sr., former resident of Beason Mills, but now living in Hartsfield, GA, says that all crops are good in that section of the country. "Uncle" Ed expects to visit his home county this fall. ____ George Robinson, of Edwardsville, whose parole was revoked by the Governor, was carried to the Anniston jail Saturday night by Deputy Sheriff W.T. Prestridge and from that place the prisoner will be returned to Montgomery to complete his sentence, it is said. Robinson was sentenced from Cleburne County for one year and one day for alleged burglary and had served with months when paroled. ____ Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kennedy and young son of Edwardsville passed through Heflin last week enroute to Louisville, where they will spend several days with relatives. Charlie is rural letter carrier at the first named place. Tom McEachern is substitute during the absence of Charlie. ____ Mrs. W.J. Lumpkin, who underwent a major operation in an Anniston hospital on Tuesday, was reported Wednesday as doing nicely. Mrs. Lumpkin, whose home is at Cedar Creek, has been in ill health for several months. ____ RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT Whereas the Great Ruler of the Universe in his wisdom has seen fit to remove by death Klansman Joseph B. Flemons who died at her home near Beason Mills Sunday, were held at Green Chapel the following afternoon, with burial in the chapel cemetery. She is survived by her husband and several children. Freeman Shumate and Miss Louise Rule Petree were married here on Friday. Both couples live in Atlanta, GA. _______ PIN HOOK News J.E. Grimes, Chester Grimes and wife motored to Jacksonville last Friday. __ R.E. Pesnell and son Martin made a business trip to Jacksonville last Thursday. __ Grady Cheatwood and Clyde Thompkin are back from Akron, Ohio for a few days with with relatives. __ Plasco Roberts and wife of Oak level attended the singing at White Plains on Sunday. __ Miss Callie Burns has returned home after spending two months with relatives in Akron, Ohio. __ Mrs. Inus Barnes, who underwent an operation in an Anniston hospital a week ago is reported to be doing nicely. She is expected home soon to the delight of her friends. ___ Mr. and Mrs. H. Luther Deese and wife and baby were in Heflin on Saturday. ___ Escar Roberds of Muscadine has bought the steam pressing outfit of C.L. Chandler and will continue operating same in the barber shop. ___ Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jones and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ivey and son, motored to Tallapoosa on Sunday. ___ Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Norton and young son of Bell Mills were here Saturday afternoon. __ Mr. and Mrs. Dederick McLendon of Hopewell were in Heflin on Friday. __ RECENT MARRIAGES Gus Boswell and Miss Mattie Trentham of this county were married Sunday, Rev. W.M. Barr officiating. A.R. Cole of Atlanta and Miss Ruby Harper of Douglasville, GA were married here at the courthouse Sunday. James Thos. Kimberly and Miss Grace Allen Gordan, both of Atlanta were married Monday, Rev. J.C.
