Howell, deceased. This day came J.S. Howell and J.L. Roberts, executors of the Last Will and Testament of said deceased, and filed their accounts, vouchers, evidence and statement for final settlement of said executorship. It is ordered that the 17th day of April 1906 be appointed a day on which to make such settlement, at which time all persons interested can appear and contest the said settlement if they think proper. Story was in Heflin this week. __ MARRIED - - Mr. Walter McLerkin and Miss Ruth DeArman of Anniston were united in marriage last Wednesday at 3 p.m., Rev. J.A. Scott of this place knotting the binding tie. ___ T.M. Turley, son of our esteemed subscriber J. Turley was trading here Wednesday. __ Charlie Bolt was chloroformed several days ago in his room at the Morris Hotel in Birmingham by a professional crook. A gold watch and $37. in money were taken by the robber. However the man has been caught and landed in jail and Mr. Bolt has recovered his property. ___ NEWSPAPER Issue of Saturday, April 14, 1906 MARRIED - - At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bell, at Bell Mills, Miss Ara Lee Causey and Mr. Jasper Tumlin were married Sunday morning at 10:15. They left Wednesday for their home in Atlanta where Mr. Tumlin has a position with the fire department. ___ LOCAL & PERSONAL NEWS P.G. Coleman of Abernathy was in Heflin this week. __ J.F. Fordham of Lecta was here this week. __ J.J. Wager was called to Carrollton on Wednesday to attend the funeral of Arlin Wager who died of appendicitis on Tuesday. __ Miss Mittie McLeroy of Tallapoosa, GA was in the city last Sunday the guest of Miss Belle Owens. __ The Heflin band has secured the music to old war time "Dixie" and can play it when called on. __ Anderson Cole and wife of Graham are in the city the guests of relatives. __ L.M. Prestridge who has been quite low with cancer of the stomach is no better. __ R.R. Swann was in the city Tuesday. __ Van Landers of Randolph county was a visitor to the city this week. __ Mr. adn Mrs. J.C. Gibbs left Friday morning for Wedowee where they go to spend several days with Mrs. Gibbs sister. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Saturday, April 28, 1906 Heflin has two citizens who joined the Masons in 1849: Mr. Fayette Snow was born in 1824 and joined the Masons in 1849. Mr. D.A. Perryman was born in 1826 and joined the Masons in 1849 at Sawyer Lodge, Wedowee, Ala. They have been Masons for 57 years. ____ IN MEMORIAM OF CALEB REYNOLDS Caleb Reynolds was born in the state of New York on August 10, 1831 and died at Choccolocco February 1906. He was the father of five children, two sons and three daughters, viz: Mrs. A.H. Locke of Choccolocco; Mrs. Edgar Journey of Anniston; Mrs. C.H. Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. R.J. Reynolds of Anniston; Geo. W. Reynolds. Another son died February 25, 1885 after several years of the most intense bodily afflictions. Bro. Reynolds was a noble type of manhood. He loved god and his fellowmen. He wept with those who wept and rejoiced in the prosperity of his neighbor. He glorified god in his body and spirit and acknowledged the divine claim and right to all he possessed. He was a faithful member of the M.E. Church, south, and as long as his health permitted he was at his place every service. His afflictions were severe and continued for many months, yet he endured as seeing him that is invisible and conquered at last through the blood of the lamb. Let his family imitate his example of faith, patience and endurance ever anticipating a blessful union beyond the tide of the last river. J.W. Lofley. __ T.E. Hicks of Stone Hill was here this week. __ J.W. Norton's blacksmith shop is rapidly being built near Brown's planer. __ Born to Mrs. and Mrs. J.M. Lofley on the 24th inst., a girl baby.
