Bowen in Heflin, among whom she was reared, will be pleased to read the following which we clip from the Talladega Mountain Home: To those who "through the joy of living" quaff daily from the "fountain of youth", age has no terrors. Thus it was that Mrs. Bowen, formerly Miss Nettie Porter of Heflin, Ala., announced that her birthday was approaching and that on the evening of May the 2nd her home would be open to friends. Large numbers of guests were assembled and pleasure reigned supreme. The beautiful new home was elaborately decorated with roses and narcissi while in every apartment seemed to linger an irridescent sureole of the happy hostess' magnetic smiles, as she flitted among her friends. So becomingly was she arrayed that one almost turned to see the other " girl in blue". Mr. and Mrs. Bowen are nice to the young people of our town, so that this occasion was but a multiplication of tersicorean joys to them. While the music and dancing proceeded even the most sedate enjoyed the round of converse, flash of wit and lash of repartee that led, through the evening's maze, to the northeast corner of the veranda where joyous maidens dispensed fruit punch; then to the attractive dining room where mid a blaze of light and flowers, the most delicious cakes and ice cream were served. Some pretty souveniers were left to remind the hostess of the pleasant occasion. Truly we wish her many happy returns of the evening. Guest.
