VELMA BOLT Funeral services were conducted from the Ai church on Wednesday afternoon of last week for Mrs. Velma Bolt, age 25 of Heflin, who died at an Anniston hospital at 3:35 o'clock Tuesday morning, following an illness of two weeks. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bolt is survived by her husband Eugene Bolt, two sons, Frank and Clarence; a daughter Margaret; her father A.J. Pesnell; two brothers, A.A. and L.H. Pesnell; a half-brother W.S. Pesnell, all of Cleburne county, and two step- brothers, E.T. and O.O. Johnson of Anniston. ------ MORGAN REUNION HELD MONDAY The family of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Morgan held a reunion at the family home here on Monday, with Mr. and Mrs. Neal Morgan acting as hosts. A buffet lunch was served. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Morgan of Anniston Miss Bessie Morgan Mr. and Mrs. Grady Morgan and daughter Bettie Jane Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Morgan and Mrs. Leeper of Birmingham Major and Mrs. A.C. Morgan of Fort Benning, Ga. Miss Roberta Morgan of Washington Mrs. W.T. Penrod of Birmingham Mrs. Minnie Cauthen of Anniston Mrs. W.T. Burns of Talladega Mrs. D.D. Perryman of Heflin, and others ------- LOCAL News G.A. Webb who has been in ill health for many months, was reported in a serious condition on Wednesday. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Newman Davis and daughter Virginia moved last week to make their home in Bremen, Georgia. They will be greatly missed in Heflin, where they have lived for several years. ---- BIRTHDAY DINNER A dinner was given on Sunday, Aug. 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Campbell, in honor of the former's birthday. At noon a delicious dinner was spread. In the afternoon a watermelon cutting took place, both being enjoyed. Those present were: Mrs. W.J. Evans and son and Buster McElroy. We all wish him many more happy birthdays. ------- BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION On Friday, August 16, James W. Norton of Heflin celebrated his 81st birthday by inviting his children and relatives to eat with him. The meeting was held at Lake Charlotte, just a short distance from Heflin. Uncle Jim Norton, as many call him, is now the oldest member of one of the largest and oldest families of our county. All the children were present at this meeting and dinner. Their names are Ellis, Cecil, Arthur and Will Norton. The following persons were there including children, grandchildren, daughters- in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins, etc.: James W. Morton of Hightower. After preaching at Antioch church, a former charge, he returned to his home and the pleasant surprise of a family reunion. Webb, age 42 of Heflin, who died at Garner Hospital on Thursday night of last week, were conducted from the Pleasant Hill church on Saturday afternoon. The Rev. J.A. Eason officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery with Jones in charge. Mr. Webb is survived by his widow, a son Wilford, his father J.A. Webb, three brothers, G.E. and A.E. Webb, all of Cleburne county; and H.A. Webb of Anniston; five sisters, Mrs. Edward Barker, Mrs. Charles Norton and Mrs. M.A. Poland, all of Cleburne county, and Mrs. R.L. Holley of Jacksonville and Mrs. J.O. Tolleson of Anniston. ------- EDWARD S. HOWLE Edward S. Howle, age 76 of Heflin, passed away at the residence of his daughter Mrs. Elbert Green, on Sept. 2 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the Heflin Baptist church on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Niager and Rev. Johnson. Interment was in the Heflin cemetery with Brown - Service of Heflin in charge. Besides the daughter, Mr. Howle is survived by three grandchildren. Mr. Howle was a member of the Heflin Baptist church and was Town Recorder for 14 years. -------- MRS. WILLIE PRICE Mrs. Willie Price, age 37, passed away at her residnece in the Gold Ridge community on Monday, Sept. 2. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Wise's Chapel by Rev. H.R. Carter. Interment was in the church cemetery with Brown - Service directing. Mrs. Price is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Daniel, Mrs. Hazel Coolie, Misses Coley and Jean Price, and one son, Lewis Price, all of that community, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.I. Huckabee of Cedartown, Ga. ------ THOMAS M. REEVES Thomas M. Reeves, age 84, passed away Monday, Sept. 2 at Steiner Clinic in Atlanta, Ga. Funeral services were held at the Heflin Baptist church on Tuesday Sept. 3 by the Rev. Roy Niager. Interment was in the Heflin cemetery with Brown - Service directing. Mr. Reeves is survived by one daughter Mrs. C.D. Riggs of Atlanta; one brother Henry, and one sister, Miss Elizabeth Reeves of Lineville, to mourn his passing. Pallbearers were John Ennis, Grover Bell, Morris Landers, Homer Holland, S.L.
