Dahl entertained for their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Dahl on Nov. 23, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The room was artistically decorated with yellow chrysanthemums, this being the center of attention on the table. The table was covered with a lace cloth. This was surrounded by crystal candle holders with white candles. Mr. and Mrs. Dahl were married in Minneapolis, Minn. on Nov. 25, 1891 and moved to Fruithurst in 1895 with their two infant sons, Fred and Emil Dahl. They being the early settlers in this community, having lived here 46 years, and have a host of friends who love this couple as their home as always been open to everyone, and a cordial welcome was always given. Delicious sandwiches and gold colored cakes and coffee was served during the afternoon, and giving this honored couple their best wishes for many more happy years of married life, many people called during the afternoon. ----- PLEASANT HILL News Dec. 1 Marvin McElroy of Anniston visited his uncle Claudus Young on Wednesday afternoon. ---- Bray Smith visited his sister Mrs. J.A.J. Bailey recently. ---- LOCAL News Lt. Carl H. Merrill left Saturday for San Francisco, Calif. where he will sail on the Matson Liner, Lurline on Dec. 11 for two years service in Hawaii. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Adams of Orlando, Fla. have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Adams. ---- Mrs. D.D. Perryman returned Friday from an extended visit to her sisters, Mrs. E.G. Sutton of Atlanta and Mrs. Ada Easley of Greenville, S.C. ---- NEGRO WOMAN KILLED Heflin, Ala. Dec 1 Edna Ullman, 32 year old negro woman, was killed instantly here Saturday night about 8 o'clock when she ran in front of an auto driven by Russell Vise at the intersection of U.S. Highway 78 and Alabama 46. ----- NEWSPAPER Issue of Thursday, DECEMBER 11, 1941 GIDLEY RITES HELD LAST SUNDAY Samuel D. Gidley, 65 year old farmer, died at his home on Delta, Route 1, at 6 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr. Gidley, a native of Calhoun county, had been in poor health for several years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Dry Valley church, the Rev. Dewey Trotter officiating. Usrey directed interment with members of the Chulafinnee Masonic Lodge in charge, in the church cemetery. Surviving are sons, J.D., C.R., D.T., L.H. and S.J. Gidley; three daughters, Mrs. L.C. Freeman, Mrs. J.D. Campbell and Mrs. Ambus King, all of Delta; one sister, Mrs. Rose Harmet of Jacksonville, and 19 grandchildren. ------ NEWSPAPER Issue of Thursday, DECEMBER 18, 1941 LOCAL News Mr. and Mrs. A.N.
