Holder this week. __ Mr. Birmett, wife and children of Texas came in Monday morning to visit kinfolks. He is a son of Mr. Green Birmett and has been in Texas for the past 18 years. ___ REV. L.S. FOSTER DIES AT HIS HOME IN FRUITHURST Dr. L.S. Foster, who has made his home here for several years, passed away to the great beyond on Sunday morning about seven o'clock. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday evening by Bros. Brock, Garner and Vann. The remains of our beloved friend left here on train No. 39 on Monday evening for Sarkville, Miss., where they will be interred. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the dear bereaved ones left behind. Not being familiar with Bro. Foster's life history we trust someone who is will send in something for publication. ___ LOCAL News W.E. Tollison has returned to his home in Texas after several days visit with relatives and friends in town. __ Mrs. Annie Howle of Johnsville, Texas is visiting her father and mother, Mr. J.A. Tollison. __ Mr. and Mrs. James Dotson of Tallapoosa are visiting relatives in town this week. __ Jim Reese is real sick suffering from typhoid fever. __ Mr. F.R. Thrower and family are visiting relatives in Georgia. ___ INTERESTING CASE IN COUNTY COURT ON FRIDAY, SMITH VS. GAY The peace proceedings suit initiated by C.W. Smith vs. Odis Gay was tried in county court on Friday before Judge Glasgow. C.H. Vann represented the state and J.R. Barker the defendant. Some interesting testimony was brought out during the trial against the defendant. The court after hearing the testimony by the attorneys ordered Gay put under a peace bond of $1000. for six months. ____ HOPEWELL News Mr. Wm. West and Miss Nettie Anderson of Beat 8 were married last Sunday morning.
