Foster had an auction sale of her household good last Saturday which was very well attended. __ T.W. Hoofman of Bluff Springs, Fla., who has been visiting his sister Mrs. Vann for the past week has returned home. __ Mr. J.I. Ingram north of town has been quite sick for some time but is some better at this writing. __ Claude and Beton Bradley were in town Sunday and Monday visiting their grandmother Mrs. Robinson. __ Mrs. N.F. McElroy from Ashly, Alabama is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Nelson. ___ Miss May Mitchell of Douglasville, GA is visiting her cousin's C.E. and J.W. Laminack. __ Mr. Ira Patty opened his school at Mars Hill on Monday. __ Mr. Dedrick Laminack and wife spent Sunday with their son Mr. C.E. Laminack. __ Miss Myrtle Laminack and little brother Oscar spent Saturday night with their Uncle, Mr. Jackson McLanon. __ MICAVILLE News Mr. Tom Morrison and son have put in a sawmill at Pine Tuckey. __ Mr. Rice and Miss Alice Cruse were happily married on Sunday. __ LOCAL News Commissioner W.E. Garner of Ai is seriously ill suffering from complications of pneumonia. __ Mrs. Clericy Pollard of West Tennessee is visiting the family of W.L. Deese. __ Mrs. J.B. Robertson has been on the sick list the past week. __ M.B. Reese has been appointed rural mail carrier at Muscadine and will move there in the near future. Mr. Reese has always been accomodating and courteous to all. ___ W. W. Faulkner of Hightower passed through Heflin on his way to Sand Mountain where he will visit relatives. __ HIGHTOWER News B.F. Snow and daughter Miss Lemma were shopping in Bowdon on Thursday. __ Quite a large crowd attended Thanksgiving services at Union Hill on Tuesday. __ Mr. Farmer Smith and Miss Laura Otwell were happily married on Sunday. May this couple live a long and happy life. ___ John Martin and John McElroy of Bowdon were in our burg on Sunday. __ OAKFUSKEE News F.O. Roberts has moved to Dotham Mill. __ Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lester visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Vise on Sunday p.m. __ Mrs. James T. Barnwell and children visited Mrs. F.O. Roberts and children Sunday p.m. ___ NEWSPAPER issue of Thursday, December 11, 1913 FRUITHURST & VICINITY News Mr. T.W. Ingram died Monday Dec. 1st and was buried in Tallapoosa on Tuesday. __ Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Vann spent Tuesday in Tallapoosa, Bro. Vann officiating at the funeral of Bro. Ingram. __ Mrs. Elmer Laird of Atlanta came in Saturday to visit her mother Mrs. Howe a few days. __ Mrs. L.S. Foster left last Wednesday morning for Mississippi where she will visit relatives after which she will settle down in Birmingham. ___ LOCAL News R.L. Owen has sold his farm and residence near town to J.W.L. Newton of Coweta County, GA. __ We understand that the Hurst grist mill one to 2 miles south of Edwardsville was burned Sunday night. About 300 bushels of grain was burned. __ Born to Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Bell, a fine boy, last week. __ W.J. Beverly has discontinued his laundry business and he and Willie his little grandson will move to Hightower where he will spend the winter with his daughter Mrs. Dr. Jerry Lindsey. __ Cousin Bill Hubbard has a thoroughbred Hamiltonian mule in his lot. Prospective mule buyers should take a look at him and see if you can tell whether its a mule or something else. __ Mrs. J.A. Vaughan has been quite sick this week. __ Jep Ayres must be tired of living single as he was escorting two girls on Sunday. __ Iman Rutenburg of Bowdon spent Sunday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. M. Rutenburg. ----- OAKFUSKEE News There were two weddings at Riddle Bridge on Sunday. Mr. Steve Roberson and Miss Hattie Elder, and Miss Roberson and Mr. Garret. We wish them much happiness. __ Clara and Lula Roberts visited their aunt, Mrs. Lidia Roberts on Monday. __ NEWSPAPER issue of Thursday, December 18, 1913 LOCAL News Miss Winnie Scott, formerly of Heflin and Mr. Morgan Brannon, of Iron City, Ala., were happily married Friday evening by Rev. G.B. Boman at Iron City. ___ Rev. John P. Houston ("Uncle Remus") has been on the sick list a few days. __ Mrs. J.A. Vaughan is very sick this week. __ J.D. Landers is on the sick list this week. __ C.D. Riggs and family of Albertville is expected to visit J.D. and Miss Dora Landers soon. __ Mr. Lee Garner of Oak Level was in town Wednesday and informs us that his father Rev. W.E. Garner who has been suffering with pneumonia about 28 days is no better. We hope he will soon be restored to good health. ___ W.G. McElroy of Trickem Valley has sold his farm and will move to town the first of the year and occupy the Tom Boyd residence on Oxford street. __ Bill Prestige is spending the week in Birmingham. __ M.D. Robinson and son Scott have torn down the old livery stable near us. __ The Clear Creek Gold Mine Co. has opened their lage hotel property and work still start immediately on the mines. A large boat is to be constructed the purpose of mining the yellow coin. ___ Mr. Henry Hilley and Miss Ophelia White were happily married at the home of Rev. Howell near Hightower. ___ J.R. Carall and family of beat 8 left Tuesday for Oklahoma. We regret to lose such good citizens but wish them success in their new home. ------ FRUITHURST & VICINITY News Mrs. Morris Johnson went to Birmingham last Tuesday where she will make her future home. Her household goods left Monday morning. ___ Mr. M.H. Krook is still confined to the sick bed. __ Mrs. A.
