Evans, a prominent citizen and druggist of Heflin, who has been seriously ill for several weeks, succumbed to the grim reaper, Monday evening at 7 o'clock. All the medical attention and tender care of relatives and friends were rendered but it seemed that god had decreed that is was enough, "come up higher". ______ R.D. WILLIAMS GIVEN LIFE SENTENCE R.D. Williams was arraigned before Judge Merrill on Friday, charged with the murder of Culver Roberts near Arbacoochee about three weeks ago. No headway was made until Friday when there was a crowd in attendance variously estimated from 800 to 1000 people. The defendant was represented by J.R. Barker, J.B. Stephens, C.H. Vann and Smith & Smith of Carrollton, GA. A great deal of interest was displayed by the large crowd in attendance. We have a great many express themselves in the belief that the murder of Roberts was one of the most brutal ever committed in Cleburne County. The jury was out only thirty minutes when a verdict of guilty was brought in and the court immediately sentenced the defendant to the penitentiary for life. There will be no appeal and the prisoner will begin at once serving his sentence. _______ LOCAL News John Haley and Mrs. Adamson were happily married last Thursday evening in Anniston.
