Perryman and D.D. Perryman and filed in this court their petition, together with a paper purporting to the the Last Will and Testament of R.J. Perryman, deceased, late of said county and state, for probate and record in this court; and it appearing from said petition that the following named persons, legatees and devisees named in said will are non-residents, to wit: F.M. Perryman Miss Hattie Perryman Mrs. J.R. Little It is ordered by the court that the 25th day of May 1914 be set apart for the hearing of said petition and that notice thereof be given for three successive weeks in The Cleburne News, a newspaper published in said county, notifying all persons to be and appear before me on said day and contest said application if they think proper. Glasgow, Judge of Probate ________ LOCAL News Miss Ethel Gentry and Mr. Luther Garrick were married near Heflin on Saturday, May 3rd. ___ A mad dog was killed at the home of J.R. Barker on Wednesday by Uncle Sweet Snow. __ C.P. Watts and Bessie Brimer were married on Tuesday, with Rev. J.P .Houston officiating. __ L.T. Beason and J.G. Coleman have recently purchased automobiles. ___ NEWSPAPER issue of Thursday, May 14, 1914 LOCAL News Willie Goodson and Beulah Vise were married on Sunday. __ Homer Mims who has been seriously ill since Sunday night is some better. __ Henry Watson who has been confined to his bed for some time is no better. __ Uncle John Tolleson has been very sick at his home on Oxford street. ___ W.J. Fowler, who has been in ill health for several months was taken to Atlanta on Saturday morning for treatment. ___ NEWSPAPER Issue of Thursday, May 21, 1914 ONE OF CLEBURNE'S GOOD CITIZENS PASSES AWAY As we go to press, reports bring the news of the death of Henry Watson, who lived one mile east of town. Henry was a good citizen and will be greatly missed in our county. ___ MUSCADINE News John Will Dingler is able to be out again after an attack of measles. __ Mr. Gus Voss who has been quite sick for several months is very low. __ Mrs. Charlie Hill and sister Rilla are both sick with measles. __ LOCAL News We are glad to report that Homer Mims who has been seriously ill is some better. __ Uncle John Tolleson, one of Cleburne's oldest and best citizens, died at his home on Oxford street on Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock after a brief illness. The remains were interred Wednesday at Cane Creek cemetery. ____ M.M. Hooper attended the Confederate Soldier's Reunion at Jacksonville last week. __ Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Roberts of Birmingham stopped here a few days the latter part of last week on their way to Indiana. Mr. Roberts has several nice pieces of property here, one of which he has just sold to Mr. and Mrs. Sherrell of S.C. Mrs. Sherrell was formerly Miss Marie Woods of this place. Mrs. Sherrell arrived last week and Mr. Sherrell will soon follow. ___ John Boyd, who has been in a hospital in Atlanta several weeks suffering from an affected knee will undergo an operation on Wednesday. The doctors found after a careful examination it was necessary to amputate his leg above the knee. W.F. Boyd, his son, and J. Tom Boyd are present at his bedside. ___ Mrs. J.H.M. Nunnelley and son of Hopewell and Mrs. W.D. Nunnelley and little daughter Mildred of Bowdon, GA visited Mr. and Mrs. Alf M. Turner on Saturday and Sunday. ___ NEWSPAPER issue of Thursday, May 28, 1914 LOCAL News Uncle Billy Roberts, one of the oldest and best citizens in the county was buried at Camp Creek on Sunday. A large crowd attended the funeral. __ CARD OF THANKS To all those who so generously assisted us in the sickness and death of our dear husband and father we desire to extend our most heartfelt thanks. Surely no one ever had better attention from neighbors and friends. May the lord's richest blessings rest upon each and every one of them in the sincere desire of our hearts. Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Tolleson, Mrs. John Tolleson ____ LARGE WILL PROBATED IN HEFLIN ON MONDAY One of the largest Wills ever put on record in Cleburne was probated in court on Monday in the estate of the late R.J. Perryman, which amounted to about $50,000. His estate was willed to his mother, brothers and sisters. He had $10,000. insurance. ______ FRUITHURST News Last Sunday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. Mems, our Swedish Lutheran brethren gathered for their regular Sunday service. After the meeting a farewell reception was given to Mr. P.A. Nyberg who leave Tuesday morning for Joliet, Illinois where he has secured a home for the balance of his days. We are sorry to lose this excellent citizen. May god's richest blessings go with him. __ A letter received from Mrs. Blackmarr of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of this place, says Mr. Blackmarr is very low and the end is expected any time. ___ Mrs. Ole Olson is very sick but is reported some better at this writing. __ LOCAL News Lula Green has been appointed postmistress at Borden Springs, Ala. __ Uncle Howell Dunston, a former citizen of his county for a number of years, died at the home of his son Jerome Dunston in Anniston last Saturday. Funeral services were conducted in Anniston. The remains were brought to Heflin and taken to Cedar Creek cemetery for interment. ___ Mrs. Hugh Pilgrim died at her home in Edwardsville last Saturday. She was a victim of paralysis. __ Dr. L.R. Wright carried Homer Mims to the hospital in Atlanta on Tuesday. __ W.G. McElroy has accepted a job farming with Frank and Neal Owens on the river five miles south of Heflin. We predict great results from this trio of farmers. ___ Mrs. E.T.
