Good land, one mile northeast of Fruithurst. T.F. Robertson, Fruithurst, Ala. ___ NEWSPAPER issue of Thursday, October 15, 1914 DEATH OF A GOOD WOMAN; DELLA EVANS Sister Della Evans, the wife of L.V. Evans, formerly of this county and now of Hugo, Oklahoma, departed this life Oct. 1, 1914. Sister Evans was born and raised in Polk County. She married Asa Evans in Dec. 1878. To this union was born five sons, three of whom, Euphrates, Authur and Lee and now living. On July 21, 1894, Bro. Evans died. On Sept. 30, 1894, Sister Evans and L.V. Evans were married. To this happy union was born two sons, Roy and Odus. It was the pleasure of this writer to be associated with Sister Evans for 32 years, each of her husband's being my life long friends, having been reared together from childhood, and having spent many happy days together. It affords me great joy to say that from my acquaintance with Sister Evans, she was a model christian, a true companion, and a devoted mother. Those who knew her best loved her best. Mr. L.V. Evans and family moved from near Heflin to near Hugo, Oklahoma during 1911. There they have lived until the morning of Oct. 1, 1914 when the great monster death came into their home and took away the mother. She bade her friends farewell and went home to the city not made with hands, where the streets are gold and the gates are pearl and there join loved ones gone and await loved ones left behind. She has many relatives here in Alabama. We know that the once happy home of Bro. Virgal is not now what it once was to him and the children. No loving companion there to comfort, no mother there to gladden the hearts of the children. But we would say to the bereaved husband and children not to weep as those that have no hope but ever to follow the good examples and emulate the virtues of that true companion and mother. _____ LOCAL News James R.
