Houston and family with Mr. J.M. Vancuron left last week for Oklahoma where Mr. Houston will make his future home. Albright and families ____ LOCAL News "Uncle Dack" Pounds, one of the old time Cleburne "boys" of way back yonder, was here this week, attending the burial of Mr. Joe Wigley. Mr. Pounds in known by all the old settlers of Cleburne and is always greeted with a hearty welcome by his old comrades on every occasion. __ Mr. J.L. York spent a few days in Jefferson county this week. __ Mr. Henry Teague has purchased the restaurant of Mr. J.W. Wade on Ross street. Mr. Wade will move to his farm near Edwardsville. __ Mrs. S.J. Owens of Leoma, Tennessee, accompanied by her daughter Mrs. Ethel McEachern of Birmingham, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Deese this week. __ Mr. D.C. Mims returned from Baltimore, Maryland last week where he accompaied his son, Homer, who is at John Hopkins' for treatment. Letters from Homer to the family are to the effect that he is doing as well as could be expected and that the treatment there will be beneficial to him. ___ The body of Mr. Joseph Wigley arrived in Heflin on Monday morning from north Alabama where he died on Sunday and the remains were carried to Pine Grove church where the interment took place. Mr. Wigley lived in the county almost all of his life up until a few years ago, when he moved to north Alabama. ____ The editor never meets "Uncle Ben" Owens but what he is made to reflect back to many years ago when he and "Uncle" Phillip Groover were in business together at Abernathy. That's been many years ago and while hundred of the then settlers of those days have gone on the great unknown, it is good to know and realize that "Uncle Ben" has been spared.
