ROBERTS As the sad and lonely midnight hour of February 6, 1920 was fast passing away, so, too, was the darling, precious, sweet life of Sister Frances Roberts fast fading from the sins and troubles of this world, and at twelve o'clock of February 6, at night, she sweetly breathed her last and tenderly fell asleep in jesus, "blessed sleep, from which none ever awakes to weep." It is to be remembered that Sister Roberts was the much loved, highly honored and esteemed wife of Bro. Geo. W. Roberts of Oak Level, Cleburne County, Alabama. Sister Roberts was born Sept. 20, 1859 being at the time of her death, 60 years, 4 months and 16 days old. She was happily married to Bro. Roberts on the 3rd day of Sept. 1882 to whom she made a true christian wife for 37 years, 5 months and 3 days, and to this happy union were born three very bright and intelligent baby girls who patterned after the good works, christian deeds and god-like life of their dear precious mother and today they are living monuments to her sacred name. Sister Roberts joined the Missionary Baptist church at Camp Creek some time in August 1882. She realized while only a young girl that god so loved that world that he gave his only begotten son that those who may believe on him should have everlasting life and she gave her life to the master and ws ever ready and willing to lend a helping hand and assist the needy in any way she could. She ws ready at all times to do her duty in her church and plead to her friends to seek the lord and his good. Sister Roberts had been a victim of asthma for many years which played a very gret part, together with the flu in bringing to a close one of the best and more purest christian ladies of Cleburne county. Yes, dear mother, we miss you; our settlement misses you so badly; the church has lost a precious member. Just before the end came she called her dear heart broken husband to her bed and placed her arms around his face and kissed him goodbye, telling him an angel band had been called to waft her soul to god who gave it. She told her children good night and passed away, sleeping, sweetly sleeping in the arms of her blessed jesus. Her remains were tenderly carried to Camp Creek church on the following Monday where services were conducted by Revs. C.W. Pope and A.T. Wommack, after which her body was conveyed to the grave where the last tribute of love and respect was rendered by the many heart broken relatives and friends. She leaves a troubled, sad hearted husband, three daughters, Mrs. Ola Rogers, Mrs. Elma Garner and Mrs. Iva Howell, together with mamy relatives and friends. "One by one earth's ties are broken as we near the shining shore, For across the river waits the loved ones gone before. Weep not, Bro. Roberts and children, for mother is gone to rest; she fell asleep in jesus, the one she loved best. " ________ BOYD-BEASON MARRIAGE Mr. Editor, You just ought to have been with this writer on Wednesday, February 18th, for he had one of the pleasant expereinces of the life time. It was the occasion of the marriage of Mr. H.G. Boyd and Miss Fay Beason. This event happened at the home of the bride's father, Mr. B.T. Beason at Beason's MIlls. This unusually popular couple were married at the hour of 4:45 p.m. in the presence of admiring friends and the ceremony was pronounced by the writer in his awkward way. Then followed one of the most sumptious suppers you ever sat down to. I never thought about you at all that time for I had all I could think of then. This happy couple start out in life with the best wishes of their many friends and bid fair to live long useful lives. May the blessings of the lord be upon them in al their ways and bring them into the harbor of life everlasting in the sweet "bye and bye". G.B.
